Update: The Children's Prison

Please tell me you remember this post, the one about the Children's Prison in Uganda that my friend Betsy got involved in??? Long story short, it's a rundown place where "bad" children and/or orphans are brought to live. Actually, rundown doesn't cover it. There's really no supervision (except to be cuffed to cell bars once in awhile) or care, not to mention food, clothes, mosquito nets, etc.

However, Praise the Lord!, some great things are happening there. After Betsy wrote about this place on her personal blog, it got passed around Atlanta, where her family lives. Four men came together to offer their talents to help Betsy and Natalie (a friend in Uganda) in any way they can. The result is this:

There is still a long way to go; it's difficult to get things done in a Third World Country. To quote one of the team members, "This is a very complex situation that requires delicate but deliberate action. Sort of like removing a splinter with a spear."

PLEASE check out this organization- the picture above links you to the website...and then, pass it on!

Yes I remember the post. I help organize and hold a women's retreat for Lutheran churches in SC each spring. Because of your post about 50 women have added the Children's Prison to their prayer list. I am going to forward the info from this post to my retreat women.
